Vic; Flash flooding keeps SES volunteers busy
Flash flooding in Melbourne is keeping State Emergency Service volunteers busy.
SES spokesman PETER COCKS says they received more than 180 calls for help overnight,
with Moorabbin and Frankston on the Mornington Peninsula the hardest hit.
SES units in Geelong have also been busy, particularly in Corio, Torquay and the Bellarine
Peninsula.
Police say motorists should take care on the Princes Highway near Werribee, 30km south-west
of Melbourne, where water on the road is slowing traffic.
Several cars have also had to be towed away from a flooded section of Dudley Street
in West Melbourne.
Meanwhile Mr COCKS says householders should prepare for winter by cleaning out the
guttering on their roofs and ensuring downpipes are clear of debris.
